Strange Braille issue with Jaws.

Hey everyone,

I just acquired a Power Braille 40 and am trying to use it with Jaws 10. The problem is in the way braille is being isplayed. For example it seems to be reperesenting letters the wrong way. In the mainjJaws window instead of saying aws Version, it displays it as Jaws Ve6sion. Also it is leaving letters out of words. Just some very strange things. I was wondering if this could be some sort of setting in the Braille advanced options menu? I might have played around in there and royally screwe something up. Also was thinking myabe my serial port it is hooked into might be going. I emailed ech Support but since they take a year to get back I figured I'd ask n here.

Ok it is definitely the port or cable in my PC. Anyone know if the new USB to parallell or serial connectors work with braille displays? I'd rather buy one of them then hunt down an old cable.

Now being told it is a stuck dot. Anyway to fix this without shell out god knows how much to get it fixed?

Get some canned air from radio shack best buy, and spray it in the cells. Usually stuck dots are a result of dust food, something that was once on the users hands and has found itself in the unit. I think you said it's a few years old, so no telling when it was cleaned last. Also, you can whipe the cells down with some Ispropyl Alcohol.
